At the beginning of July, from Monday, July 1 to Wednesday, July 3, the 47th batch of Master of Agribusiness Management (MMA) students carried out Widyakarya to Malaysia. Widyakarya activities are carried out as a form of MMA’s enthusiasm in increasing student knowledge outside the classroom by conducting industrial visits. Not only knowledge is increased, but also the experience of visiting a foreign country makes this activity, which is one of the compulsory courses, very enjoyable. After the visit, students are obliged to make a report and present the results in class.
Dr. Ir. The guest lecture of Master of Agribusiness Management held on Monday, May 20, 2024 online, presented one of the great speakers who is also an alumnus of the Faculty of Agriculture UGM. Evi Martiani, S.P working as Vice President of PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk Yogyakarta Area had the opportunity to provide knowledge to Master of Agribusiness Management students at a guest lecture with the theme “Save Shares and Live from Dividends”.
Currently, global economic issues that also occur in Indonesia include global inflationary pressures, rising interest rates, global recession, weakening economies, geopolitical occurrences, and economic risks. He said that currently the safest way to save is to save yellow gold, black gold, and forex. Yellow gold is the safest way to save gold because of its liquidity, so it can be withdrawn at any time. He also said that retirement funds must be calculated early on, based on the amount of annual expenses. In addition, saving can also be done by investing in stocks, bonds and mutual funds. Bonds are the lowest risk investment. Mutual funds are a type of investment that is very suitable for beginner investors because they are handled by investment managers. Indonesia’s efforts to become a developed country must increase the number of domestic investors because currently investment in Indonesia is dominated by foreign investors.
Entering the digital era and increasingly complex global challenges, the need for adequate skills and insights to start and manage a business is becoming increasingly important. The Master of Agribusiness Management (MMA) conducted an interesting field trip (Widyakarya) abroad, specifically in Thailand between February 26 and 28, 2024. MMA students had the opportunity to visit a number of prestigious corporate institutions, including Big Bee Garden, Yara International, and the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC). However, this trip was not just limited to industrial visits. The students were also given the opportunity to interact directly with Thailand’s academic environment by visiting one of the country’s top universities, Kasetsart University. In this short period of time, students had an in-depth experience to understand the dynamics of agribusiness in Thailand and broaden their horizons internationally.
