At the beginning of July, from Monday, July 1 to Wednesday, July 3, the 47th batch of Master of Agribusiness Management (MMA) students carried out Widyakarya to Malaysia. Widyakarya activities are carried out as a form of MMA’s enthusiasm in increasing student knowledge outside the classroom by conducting industrial visits. Not only knowledge is increased, but also the experience of visiting a foreign country makes this activity, which is one of the compulsory courses, very enjoyable. After the visit, students are obliged to make a report and present the results in class.
On July 1, the group of MMA Batch 47 students departed from YIA (Yogyakarta International Airport) at 11.45 WIB to arrive in Malaysia around 15.30 local time with the first destination being Putrajaya Tour (Prime Minister Boulevard, Red Mosque, Bridge & Lake), a visit to Petronas, and closed in the evening with culinary Nasi Kandar Pelita. Students and lecturers rested at Pudu Hotel for the next two days.
Furthermore, on July 2, precisely on Tuesday, the group of MMA students conducted industrial visits to Sime Darby and Gardenia. The Sime Darby company is one of the largest palm oil companies in Malaysia so students are very enthusiastic in learning about on-farm to off-farm activities. Furthermore, after lunch break, a visit to the Gardenia bread industry was continued, as one of the bread companies that has the best market share in Malaysia. Students also had the opportunity to taste Gardenia’s best products after touring the factory. Not only industrial visits, on this second day students had the opportunity to walk and shop at Harriston chocolate and Bukit Bintang.
On the last day, Wednesday, July 3, 2024 before heading to KL airport to return to Indonesia, MMA students visited Universitas Kebangsaan Malaysia. The visit focused on the Graduate Business of School to find out the activities, facilities, and learning facilities both at the S2 and S3 levels. This activity can encourage students to continue their doctoral program abroad. Thus the excitement of the journey of the Master of Agribusiness Management (MMA UGM) Batch 47 students.
