Curriculum of Master of Agribusiness Management UGM (MMA-UGM) consists of preparatory courses, core courses, and thesis. Multidisciplinary set of courses which emphasized on sectoral agribusiness and case study is distinctive feature of MMA-UGM. This program aims to develop graduates who hold skills to advance agribusiness management field of knowledge and/or serve as professional manager in agribusiness sector.

This program of study concludes with thesis and examination. Total minimum credit requirement to be graduated from this program is 54 SCUs.

Courses Description
Agribusiness Investment Analysis This course examines various matters related to investment issues in agribusiness that are specific in nature given the characteristics of agribusiness commodities as well. This course will provide a broad insight for manager in making investments and determining the value of shares given the aspects discussed in this course. emphasised on the managerial aspects of investment decisions, both domestic and international. and international.
Application of Horticulture and Food Agribusiness This course explains the concept of agribusiness management in the field of food and horticulture at both the on-farm and off-farm levels. Management applications are illustrated using strategic commodities. Food commodities include rice, corn, soybeans, sweet potatoes, and sorghum. Horticultural commodities encompass vegetables, fruits, ornamental plants, and bio-pharmaceutical plants. At the off-farm level, students are provided with materials related to agro-industry in food and horticultural commodities.
Application of Forestry and Plantation Agribusiness This course explains the concept of agribusiness management in the field of plantation and forestry at both the on-farm and off-farm levels. This course provides students with knowledge about the role of plantation and forestry in the national economy, management of plantation and forestry companies related to production and processing management, finance, Human Resources (HR), risks, and marketing.
Application of Fishery and Livestock Agribusiness This course will cover various principles and practices in the management of fisheries and livestock businesses. The aim of this course is to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to manage fisheries and livestock production enterprises. The emphasis in this course includes decision-making, financial analysis, business structure, risk management, and planning and resource management.
Economics for Managers Application of economic theory (microeconomics and macroeconomics) and decision making analysis tools (mathematical economics and econometrics) for decision making in an economic organization to achieve its goals as efficiently as possible.
Capita Selecta This course provides an opportunity for students to gain a more comprehensive understanding and insight related to the application of various theories in the field of agribusiness management. The course includes several guest lecture topics presented by experienced practitioners in the field. Students are expected to comprehend the recent developments in agribusiness management issues and to be able to compile evaluation reports related to these issues.
Entrepreneurship and Agribusiness Startup Students are expected to be able to have and develop an entrepreneurial spirit and understand the principles of start up in agribusiness. This course discusses how to capture business opportunities, strategies, challenges, risks and obstacles that arise in an agribusiness venture so that students are expected to be able to design new businesses and manage the business effectively and efficiently.
Cooperatives and Micro-Finance for Agribusiness Cooperatives and microfinance for agribusiness are mandatory subjects for master’s students in agribusiness management with an interest in agribusiness financial studies. The objectives of studying this course are: a) to provide knowledge and understanding regarding the management of cooperatives and micro-financing for agribusiness, b) explain evaluation indicators for performance and micro-financing for agri-business, and c) provide an illustration of effective management of cooperatives and micro-financing for agribusiness and sustainable. This course is related to other mandatory courses, namely agribusiness management, agribusiness project planning and management, agribusiness strategic management, and agribusiness entrepreneurship and startups.
Agribusiness Management Agribusiness Management is a mandatory course for students with an interest in studying agribusiness. Through this course, students study business management from an agribusiness perspective.
Agribusiness Financial Management This course discusses the principles, theories and analytical framework of corporate financial management (corporate finance) and agribusiness institutions that can be used by financial managers in making decisions related to company/institution finances. The course also gives students the opportunity to understand corporate financial management theory and how to apply it to real life so that it has an impact on sustainable value creation. After students take this course, students are expected to be able to do it analyzing aspects of financial reporting instruments such as financial ratio analysis, profits financial, operational profit, cash, inventory, receivables, financial risk analysis, cost of capital analysis, working capital analysis, and capital markets.
Agribusiness Marketing Management and Consumer Behavior This course equips students with materials related to how consumers choose, decide, and purchase products to satisfy their needs and desires (customer satisfaction). Additionally, students will acquire materials related to core marketing concepts, company orientation to the market, product life cycle, and marketing mix strategies.
International Trade Management This course provides students with knowledge and skills in explaining, especially and evaluating international trade management.
Agribusiness Production and Supply Chain Management This course examines various matters related to investment issues in agribusiness which are of a remember nature characteristics of special agribusiness commodities as well. This lecture will provide broad insight for a manager in making investments and determining share value considering the aspects discussed in It will emphasize the managerial aspects of investment decisions, both domestic as well as internationally.
Agribusiness Strategic Management This course introduces strategic management for agribusiness,. This course will discuss Strategic management essentials, strategic planning, ethic, social responsibility, and sustainability, types of strategies, vision and mission analysis, the internal audit – SWOT, the external audit – swot, strategy generation and selection – BCG matrix dan GE matrix, strategy implementation, strategy execution, dan strategy monitoring.
Human Resource Management This course equips students with concepts and theories of human resource management along with examples of their application in the agribusiness business environment.
Agribusiness Research Methodology This course facilitates students to learn agribusiness management research using qualitative and quantitative methods. Agribusiness management research is used by business organizations, consultants, and business decision makers, as they seek to systematically understand business phenomena based on experience, observation, and experimentation especially in the field of agribusiness. This research was conducted to answer research questions for case analysis, theory testing and business plan types. This course covers four broad topics: business research concepts and theories, research design, data collection, and data analysis. Students get exposure to current topics from business research. This course provides the opportunity to learn directly in all aspects through in-class lectures, out-of-class assignments, and an agribusiness case analysis approach so that students can gain insight into the latest topics to use as a basis for their thesis, as well as provide insight into how to and strategies for compiling international journal articles.
Behavior and Ethics in Agribusiness Institutions This course is an elective course which aims to equip program students Masters in Agribusiness Management with an understanding of individual behavior and group behavior
in agribusiness institutions, organizational structure, organizational culture, resource management humans in the agribusiness institutional system, effective steps in mobilizing groups, and improve the performance of agribusiness institutions. In this lecture, the topics discussed include: includes: basic concepts of organizational behavior, personality and individual behavior in organizations, dynamics and diversity in organizations, attitudes and behavior at work and satisfaction towards work, motivation in organizations, groups in organizations, communication within organizations, alternatives in decision making, power and politics in organizations, conflict and negotiations in organizations, organizational structure and organizational culture, changes in organizations, stress management, and human resource (HR) policies in organizations.
Research Proposal Proposal Riset adalah karya tulis ilmiah yang disusun sesuai kaidah penulisan ilmiah yang berisi rancangan penelitian yang akan dilakukan oleh mahasiswa program magister (S2) di bawah pembimbingan dosen pembimbing tesis. Adapun topik penelitian mencakup berbagai isu dalam cakupan manajemen agribisnis. Mata kuliah ini merupakan mata kuliah wajib yang bertujuan untuk membekali mahasiswa program Magister Manajemen Agribisnis dengan pemahaman penulisan dan penerapan penyusunan proposal penelitian yang berkaitan dengan teknis penulisan karya ilmiah sesuai dengan kaidah keilmuan dan keilmiahan. Dalam perkuliahan ini, pokok bahasan antara lain mencakup: ruang lingkup strategi penulisan tesis, prosedur penelitian dan pembimbingan teknis penulisan tesis dan pemilihan judul, review penelitian terdahulu, landasan teori, latar belakang, rumusan masalah, tujuan, ruang lingkup, signifikansi penelitian, definisi operasional, dan sistematika penulisan, metode penelitian, serta referensi.
Agribusiness Research Operation This course explains the concept of problem-solving techniques related to making the best decisions for those with limited resources. This course includes linear programming (LP), linear programming simplex solving, transportation, assignment, transshipment, interger programming, quadratic programming, PERT (project evaluation and review technique) and CPM (critical path method), optimal inventory, queuing theory, and DEA. Mathematical models for making the best decisions with limited constraints resources, especially in the field of agricultural economics
Management Control System for Agribusiness This course equips students with concepts and theories of human resource management along with examples of their application in the agribusiness business environment.
Statistics for Agribusiness This course introduces statistics for agribusiness, statistical
analysis tools in economics and social sciences. This course will discuss mathematical and statistical models of economic phenomena, scope of analysis and discussion, preparation of simple regression, classical assumption testing, multiple regression and its use, ANOVA for testing model accuracy, time series analysis, linear probability model, logit model, probit model, simultaneous equations model, panel data analysis, ARIMA.
