MMA UGM is once again organising an interesting guest lecture (kultam) which discusses Digital Marketing!. Very interesting isn’t the theme? Digital marketing is one of the skills that you must master if you are going to become an entrepreneur. For your information, this kultam is part of the Entrepreneurship and Agribusiness Startup course so it is mandatory for students who take the course, especially batches 47 and 48. However, this kultam is also open to all students of the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics from S1 / S2 / and S3 levels. Save Shares & Live off Dividends

The guest lecture of Master of Agribusiness Management held on Monday, May 20, 2024 online, presented one of the great speakers who is also an alumnus of the Faculty of Agriculture UGM. Evi Martiani, S.P working as Vice President of PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk Yogyakarta Area had the opportunity to provide knowledge to Master of Agribusiness Management students at a guest lecture with the theme “Save Shares and Live from Dividends”.

Currently, global economic issues that also occur in Indonesia include global inflationary pressures, rising interest rates, global recession, weakening economies, geopolitical occurrences, and economic risks. He said that currently the safest way to save is to save yellow gold, black gold, and forex. Yellow gold is the safest way to save gold because of its liquidity, so it can be withdrawn at any time. He also said that retirement funds must be calculated early on, based on the amount of annual expenses. In addition, saving can also be done by investing in stocks, bonds and mutual funds. Bonds are the lowest risk investment. Mutual funds are a type of investment that is very suitable for beginner investors because they are handled by investment managers. Indonesia’s efforts to become a developed country must increase the number of domestic investors because currently investment in Indonesia is dominated by foreign investors. read more

Paving the International Path: Reflections on the Journey of the 46th MMA Widyakarya in Thailand

The Master of Agribusiness Management (MMA) conducted an interesting field trip (Widyakarya) abroad, specifically in Thailand between February 26 and 28, 2024. MMA students had the opportunity to visit a number of prestigious corporate institutions, including Big Bee Garden, Yara International, and the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC). However, this trip was not just limited to industrial visits. The students were also given the opportunity to interact directly with Thailand’s academic environment by visiting one of the country’s top universities, Kasetsart University. In this short period of time, students had an in-depth experience to understand the dynamics of agribusiness in Thailand and broaden their horizons internationally. read more

Community Farming in Japan

Master of Agribusiness Management (MMA UGM) held another guest lecture on 4 March 2024 with the title “Community Farming in Japan” which reviewed community and contract farming with speaker Prof. Tsuyoshi Sumita as Prof Major Farm Business Management from Tohoku University.

Prof Tsuyoshi, known as Tsuyoshi-sensei, explained the definition of community farming, the difference between community farming and contract farming, and its history and sustainability in Japan. Agricultural conditions in Japan and Indonesia have similar problems regarding the dominant age of farmers, which is 65 years old on average, and the low interest of the younger generation to enter the agricultural sector. read more
